About the project
For Kivalo Design, the ambition was to create a brand that feels deeply rooted in nature while remaining clean and versatile. Kivalo's identity draws inspiration from the quiet strength, textures, and tones of the natural world of Finland. It's shaping a visual and emotional language that feels both grounded and timeless while communicating warmth and trust. It was designed to feel approachable and human, with a sense of calm authenticity that invites people in rather than demands attention.
A key idea behind the work was balance. Kivalo Design had to live comfortably in different contexts: by the fireplace, in a curated design store, out in nature, or as a thoughtful gift. Whether in everyday use or displayed as an object, everything by Kivalo reflects a harmony between function and aesthetics — something made to be both used and appreciated.
Kivalo Design has been granted with Design from Finland and The Finnish Key Flag Symbol (Avainlippu) certificates.
